Laura Gyldenbjerg

I have been involved in the insolvency field for well over 20 years now (I won’t say exactly how many, as I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag about how old I really am!).

Over the years, I have had the pleasure of meeting some very lovely people with very unique and challenging situations, as well as seeing some very interesting corporate insolvencies.

I obtained my Bachelor of Business Administration degree, specializing in Human Resource Management from Brock University. I’ve found it very helpful over the years to help me manage personal interactions, as well as getting down to the nitty-gritty with numbers.

Throughout my career (or as I like to refer to it, my “previous life”), I have worked for large national insolvency firms as well as smaller-sized firms. That experience has helped me to develop my own personal style in helping people who are struggling with their debts and work out custom-tailored solutions for them.

Chris Garner

Since 2007, I’ve been helping clients achieve their financial goals while encouraging them to plan for the unexpected.

  • Education and Designations:
  • Life Licence Qualification Program, 2007
  • Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) Designation, 2009
  • Canadian Investment Funds Course, 2011
  • Certified Financial Planner Designation, 2013
  • President’s List for 2nd highest exam mark in Canada

I truly enjoy helping people get a better handle on their finances, increase their financial knowledge, and plan for the future.

I strive to develop long-term relationships with my clients to fulfill their goals.

Outside of work, I love to play hockey, golf, and spend time with my wife Kathleen and our kids – Mary, Sarah and Thomas.

Adrian Blake

After completing my Bachelor of Commerce degree from University of Toronto I knew I wanted to run a business of my own. At the time I was running a wedding photography business, but I knew that industry wasn’t the right choice for me in the long-term. Ultimately I decided to join my father in Financial Planning, earning my Certified Financial Planner® Professional and Registered Retirement Coordinator® designations, and purchased his business in 2019.

I enjoy finding better ways to serve our clients. I’ve embraced technology (something this industry is guilty of avoiding) in order to make my practice fully digitally enabled. I like getting together with my clients as much as anyone, but I also realize the value and convenience of being able to host online meetings, bring on new clients with a digital process, and use web-based financial planning tools that allow more robust understanding of financial planning decisions with meaningful visualizations instead of endless numbers.

Outside of work, I am married to Jennifer, have two young sons, Owen and Dax, and enjoy mountain and road cycling, keeping exotic discus fish, and vacationing (although COVID-19 has really put a damper on that).

Elaine Royds

Elaine is a Senior Financial Advisor and Certified Financial Planner (CFP) with an MBA in Finance. She started investing in the stock market on her own at age 21. And when she became an advisor in 1997, she was trained in Warren Buffett’s Growth at a Reasonable Price (GARP) style of investing. That is still the main investment style she uses, but investing is only a small part of advising.

She places great emphasis on tax and estate planning and having a financial roadmap that tells clients what steps they need to take to get them where they want to go financially. She believes in regular meetings to track the progress toward financial goals and to adjust investments should markets have changed. Generally though, Elaine promotes long-term investing rather than trying to chase market returns or predict short term phases.

Elaine has grown her practice without having to do any marketing to attract new clients. For the last 17 years, she has relied solely on referrals and now has drawers of clients with the same last names. She is glad to be affiliated with Manulife Securities Incorporated, especially since it is one of the last places where an advisor can work and be able to give truly unbiased advice, without having to meet quotas by promoting their dealership’s proprietary product.

Elaine also works for Manulife Securities Insurance Inc. to help clients manage their risk – death, disability, medical, including medical while travelling.

Michael J O’Brien

I have been helping people all my life. Whether giving advice to friends and family or teaching my children to ride their bikes.

Today my first goal is always to understand what is most important to you. Only then can we work together to meet your goals. By understanding your dreams, hopes and expectations we can work through our proven process.

Life is a ride, not a destination. And most important to me is partnering with my clients to chart a course to ensure their retirement is fulfilling, or they can afford their children’s education, or their business assets are best invested.

In 1998 I was recruited to work in our Nation’s Capital. However my wife Michelle brought me back to the beautiful Hamilton, Dundas, Ancaster area.
We live here, with our 2 wonderful children Mary and Matthew. Michelle enjoys teaching and we have been involved coaching our children’s soccer teams.

In 2003 my family was blessed. Michelle married me and my Mom was able to share a kidney with my Dad. Since that date we have been a part of the Kidney Walk every year. We are also actively involved raising money for Cancer and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation.

My family enjoys visiting the many parks and outdoor areas in our community. I invite you call or email us to find a few minutes to sit down for a coffee.

Paul Carvalho

I’m Paul, and I can help.

Paul Carvalho financial advisor in Hamilton. I have over 20 years experience in finance, and hold the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. I work with families across Southern Ontario, along with serving clients in my local community of Hamilton, Ontario.

I’m not like the financial advisors at your bank.
Trust is important. That’s why I do things differently.

I work with clients on a conflict-free, fiduciary basis. I’m held to the fiduciary standard, which means I’m professionally required to always put your interests first.

Banks and most other advisors follow a much lower standard. That means they can sell you something (anything) as long as its 'suitable'.
